Which amp???

Postby oompah2788 » Sun Jul 04, 2004 1:40 am

ooh... so if i take the speakers out, the speaker mounts can act as ports?? i see i see. hmmm maybe ill do that. Would anything over 100 watt rms be overkill for the cdt's? theyre rated at 90 watt rms i think. where can i get these amps online (jl, tru tech, arc, zapco, us, linear power)? Itll help if they came with a warranty too. I cant seem to find any online dealers. I know for sure the local dealers here would be a rip off so i need to buy it online. Thanks! :D

oh yeah... If i run the fronts off an amp and take the rears out, i wouldnt need a wiring harness for the h/u right? since the amp would get a signal from the rca outputs then to the speakers??

those rn't even "zapco" amps, they were bought from an outside source

try to find zapco reference 350.2 or even their olllder stuff

would u consider upgrading your components?

maybe http://www.cdtaudio.com/hd62ef.htm
that amp definately can provide enough juice for them

its kind of too late for that because i already ordered them from thezeb and they should be coming soon. any other suggestions for the cl-61's??? so that amp is a "fake"??? thanks :bday:  :D

p.s: Since you said "upgrade" to better components, how do the cl-61a compare to the focal polyglass or infinity kappa's??

Any of the chrome PPI PC series amps would be good. Any old schol "AM" series PPI amps. Any of the old "ART" series PPI would be good. Old school linear power, Orion, Rockford Fosgate. Newer stuff maybe JL or Avionixx. Look on ebay, good prices there. Stick with a well known name and you should be fine..

the phoenix octane R amps are an awesome value, you could look at the R 4.02. BTW Pro 956 definatly knows his stuff. So listen to him whenever possible, although i must say that the I-force from zapco (and i did say FROM and not BY =0) Really sound levels above alot of entry level amps. ) Just my opinion, since i sell em =0p

yep, i-force is definately better than most entry level amps, but it seems he's looking in a whole other class of amps

that's awesome that you sell zapco though :)
for some reason their popularity has died down in recent years
seems like dls and tru tech are on the up and up these days

I would seriously recommend looking into kenwood, alpine, RF, Kicker, etc. Brands like Tru Technology and Zapco are great quality amps but they are a serious investment and there is absolutely no SQ difference between any decent brand and an extremely expensive brand as far as amps go. Avoid brands w/ bad reputations (legacy, pyle, bazooka) and you should be fine, just remember the amp's job is only to increase the wattage of a signal, you can't gain SQ from amplification.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

Do you know what the tru tech t2.100 runs around??? i cant spend alot of money just on this amp because im still going to be buying a h/u, sub and another amp for that. The MAX i can spend is around $250 for this amp....
Hows the Soundstream Rubicon 500-2??? Im leaning towards that one right now....acaraudio is having a clearance sale($189) and I read some good things about it on sounddomain. Its 100x2 @ 4 ohms so its perfect for my cdt's. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: AH! i guess i cant get the tru tech amp. Its out of my price range. It was $475 plus shipping. Let me know on how that soundstream amp is! thanks

But your sure CAN lose SQ with a cheap junky POS amp. You get what you pay for...
