Youve got your Infinity Dual 4 ohm sub that should be wired like this to get a 2ohm load on your amp.
Your 500/1 will do 500-700 watts from 4ohm to 1.5 ohm loads, its adaptive to them all. And wattage also depends on the cars electrical system (alternator, battery, if the car is running, thickness of your power and grounds, etc...)
But the problem is that your sub, perfect 12d vq can only take 400 watts. You could have been sending it 100-300 watts more then it could take.
The gauge speaker wire really isnt as much concern as the power thats going through it, as long as you have a decent size, 12-10 your fine. It really wont cause the sub to get burn up, espically at the VC, which is where all the power goes.
I think you were running too much power to your sub, had your gains too far up (ie, gains are not a volume control).
Next time ask around, a couple people on here, including myself, have played around with car audio systems for a few years and know the proper steps to be taken to ensure equipment doesnt end up in the trash can...live and learn
At least your 500/1 didnt blow...
my gains and everything was at 0 and everything was off ...
i jus got back form quailty auto sound and cartoys... quality auto sound said i was ok..and cartoys said.. my sub is about to blow..
do you guys think that this sub will blow any minute now?
i found out that i need to seal up my box better..and to maybe rewire some stuff
