Head Unit I Bought, Your Thoughts?

Check out the Bostons as well... Out of the group I listed, the Bostons and the Alpines are my favs. The Eclipses are very good as well, though.

Also keep in mind that the Gen 1 / 1.5 has 6"x9"s in the rear and 6.5"s in the front (I believe, someone please confirm this)... The Alpine Type Rs would go well all around, but if you went with the Bostons you may wanna consider the SLs in the back and the Pros up front... Usually I don't recommend crossing speaker series, but they actually blend very well together (as a matter of fact the BA Grand Prix used to have that setup). The Pros step up into the higher price ranges, but you can still find deals on them. The SLs all around would also sound pretty sweet.

I skimmed a few opinion boards and it seems like the alpines have a super high satisfaction rating...

I still have to hear what they sound like.

ya the front are 6.5 and rear at 6x9

alpine type r do a fantasy job considering how much little you have to pay for them.

boston pro, which i never heard in person but heard good things about them.

The new Boston Pros are definitely good speaks (very lively), but they seem kinda tinny to me under certain types of music... My friend has two pairs of the 6.5"s in his Mazda 6 and they sound awesome, but they don't quite sound "true" to the music for some reason... I could just be used to my Z6s, or it could be his installation... but I expected a bit more from a $500 pair of speakers...

Installed the unit last night. It was easier than I thought it would be... but it was also really frustrating at times.

So far, my first impression is a rather good one. Everything sounds well defined and realistic.

I still haven't installed my iPod Connector... I did run the wiring though... just scared to mount something to my car haha.

Glad to hear you got it hooked up and are satisfied with your choice. After doing some tweeking and fooling around with it I'm sure it will sound even better :-)

Have fun with it!

What did you not like about the Seas Lotus?

Are you DrumProdigy on ECA?

I should probably clarify my statement: They aren't my personal preference for the every day mobile environment. Don't get me wrong, Seas makes a very solid line-up, but I feel that there are other lines out there that offer the about same for less... They are VERY picky speakers to place and power properly, and they are a bit too neutral for my personal preference (although, this would be a good thing for home usage where you don't have to deal with additional engine and road noise...) I just prefer the speakers in my car to be a bit more lively (since mobile environments are never perfect for soundstaging and clarity unless you sit parked with your car off... I prefer to drive).

Nope, I'm not DrumProdigy from ECA.
