why does everyone suggest bypassing the factory amp. anyone actually compared the two ,aftermarket hu internal amp, and stock jbl amp

i just can not imagine ANY aftermarket hhu amp being more powerful than the stock jbl

please someone who has done a direct comparison inform me of their results or stop telling evryone to bypass the amp

i could be wrong but i will try it out this weekend myself before the "real" amp go in

Have you actually seen the stock JBL amp? It's about the size of a small paperback book. :drinking:


From my personal experiences it sounded better with using the headunit's onboard amp.

Also another thing to think about. The factory amp was not designed to take an amplified signal source as the input.

from what i read actually it does accept an amplified source via the stock radio?

anyway if you have experience in the two and say the hu is stronger i will take your workd for it as i have no first hand experience

ever see the amp in a hu? even smaller

The amplifiers in the HU are basically "chiplifiers" Integrated Circuit amps, not discrete componets like an outboard amp...
