Hey Jackass-Jeff,

You wouldn't happen to work at Longo Toyota, would you? I bought my truck from there.

I work at Longo LEXUS =P

If you need parts, let me know.

---------------------------------------

Eclipse products that ARE released so far (05)

Navigation unit which is an improved version of the 2004 AVN2454
Note: Not the harddrive one... just the dual drive system.

It features 5V preamp outs, wiring that's compatible with MOST manufacturer steering wheel controls, and faster navigation response time. The Eclipse Commander (voice command unit) will be out later this year... so you'll pretty much have the Lexus navigation in the car, sans bluetooth.

The price of this unit is give/take the same as the previous year's model.

Less than $2000 installed at my friend's authorized Eclipse shop. (Benefits: 1 Year ESN, 3 Year Warranty)

Retail is 2300 or 2400 + install (install being between $100-300, depending on the shop)
1GR-FE ftw!

Man, I don't have a Lexus, just a 2002 Tacoma Prerunner. :( That's funny though how close we live out here in cali. I live just outside of Pasadena.

I do have the avn 2454, but really want the 5495 because of the hard drive. I know that the navigation response will be faster. The biggest thing for me though would be to use the extra 20 GB for the music. I've been waiting for a combo like this for a while.

Do you know if you or your friend will be getting the 5495 anytime soon? Also, once you do get any extra info on that unit, other than what has already been posted in the press release, could you please tell us!

Thanks man,
gr

I think ETA on that unit is 2 and a half months (most likely 2 months, just extra 2 weeks just in case)

He doesn't have any of the headunits yet except for the "improved" 2454

I'm thinking about the 2454 now since it has 5V preamps... as opposed to .5 lol... but I bet it won't be better than the 8V I currently have...

Yeah, I noticed that too. The 5495 is the one to get. I love my 2454, but there are some pauses in navigation when getting poi's or rerouting because of the dvd access. Also, the ability to have mp3's on the hd is awesome.

Do you know if we will be able to just upload updated roads and address to the navigation since it's on the hd?

you're supposed to be able to download updates to it (you have to buy a connection kit from Eclipse OR burn to DVD) from what I know...

Oooo, interesting. Is this for the 5495 and the 2454 or just the 5495? I thought for the 2454 I would have to buy a new DVD.

Man, I wish they would update their web site. I am a web designer and would totally do a better job than what they have right now.

for all of you curious about eclipse, heres how to read the model number. The first number is the voltage of the unit, the second is the number of channels that the unit has, third number is the series , higer being better, and lastly the last number is the year of production. So the avn is 2 volts(combined) 4 channels of amplification, the 5 seires(yeah like bmw) and is a 2004 production unit. Now a salesman cant scam you. :D

I was actually thinking about that a few weeks ago but never put it on paper... hahaha I was wondering why the unit names just went up a single digit. =P

8V 4 Channel 5 Series 4 (04) model year

The only beef I have is that my unit doesn't (say on the unit) that is has 4 Channnel applification. Although people have said it does... because I know the 8053 (2003 model, 8V, no internal amp) really doesn't have an internal amp....

I guess 5 Series = Pimp Line =D
