Stock HU refuses to play CDR's?

Stock HU refuses to play CDR's?

Postby pythonjosh » Thu Jul 01, 2004 10:08 pm

Just about a month ago every time I try to play a CDR it spins it around for a little bit then spits it back out. Even CDR's that it used to play when I bought the car a year ago. I bought a CD lens cleaner and no changes. It's play store bought CDs just fine. I thought I might be burning the CD's faster than they are made for so I burned one at 16x and it still spit it back out. My roommate's Alpine and his stock 02 Acura 3.2TLS deck also has no probs. Is there a way I can fix this or am I f*cked until I buy an aftermarket HU? Should I get a dust blower? This has been driving me crazy for a month and if anybody has any answers for I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks,
Josh

The stock Cd player isn't that great at playing any cds, even commercial ones. Try not to get too frustrated. You can try the CD-rs meant for music, but that probally won't help. If you have a cd lens cleaner try that.

The only fool proof solution is to get an aftermarket HU

My stock unit didn't accept CDs that were burned over 16x.

If you burn at 16 or less and it still happens, use a better quality cd.

I'll try again at 8x. But I never had a problem with a cd burned with my 54x before. Don't even have $$ to buy even a cheap HU. Hope it works.

I had that problem too. Then I found out I had the same problem with retail CDs, so my HU's CD player was just going bad. I tried alot of lens cleaning, disc cleaning, all kinds of crap. I had to replace the HU to fix it.

If its failing on discs it used to play, I would just say the CD players going bad. Try a retail one and see if that plays fine.

Sometimes those cheap cdr's are very light so it's hard for the player to read anything on it. But, that's weird if it's not playing commercial cd's.

It is playing commercial cd's, just not CDRs. It might be the quality of the CDR too.

Nope. 8x made no difference. I don't want to get a new HU because I plan on installing a carputer in the future. Sucks. I'll try dusting it then. If that won't work then I'll try yelling at it as a last resort.

What post? This is your first post to this topic dude. If you're talking about a post you posted on another topic, please provide a link man. I just want to try to get this solved. If you know what's going on here, I'd appreciate your help. Thanks,

Umm. Dude, looks like I wrote that. I think me actually using the cd lens cleaner is assumed. It didn't fix anything, which is the reason I posted. I've got a problem and instead of trying to help or even say anything related to my question, you're posting what I posted and saying why don't ppl read your post. I think I get it, you're posting BS to raise your post count. Is that it? How about you try starting a new thread, saying asdfjkhasldkjfh and replying to yourself with ljkhasdfjkhasljdfh. At least then you'd only be pissing off the moderators instead of ppl looking for help to solve their problem. If you can help me I will stick my foot in my mouth and eat my words, but it seems helping is not your intention.

I noticed Yanks posted that right after my original post. In my post I said I had already tried that. Am I missing something here smart guy? I don't see how you've contributed to this topic at all. You've totally wasted space on this page. How do think I am mentally challenged? I'm trying to figure out why you posted in the first place. Your posts have not been clear especially the one where you didn't say anything. Exactly what are you trying to do here? Why did you even bother posting at all? I can't believe I got such a response from posting a problem I have with my solara. WTF is wrong with you?
