is it safe to run a 1.5 ohm operation on a 2 ohm stable amp? Does dual 6-ohm sound good on a 2 ohm amp?

is it safe? depends on the amp
audiobahn amp? no
also if you're askin if you can run 1.5ohms mono on a 2ohm stereo amp, t hen you'll definately break it-- even if it's much better than audiobahn

my question had nothing to do with audiobahn's integrity thankyou very much. Also, it's not a stereo amp, it's mono (english gets hard to read sometimes).

u must understand that impedance fluxes. Believe it or not but a 2 ohm load will more than definatly hit 1.5 ohms at certain peaks and valleys. Going to a 1.5 ohm load will more than definatly blow most amps on the market, with the exception of Zapco, xtant, and just a couple others.

ok thankyou both for your input.

anybody suggest a good 1 (or 1.5) ohm stable amp? I usually come across audiobahn and rockford fosgate but idk, web-sites don't usualy put out all items by a maker.

jl audio... the 500/1 or 1000/1 is good for 1.5 ohm up to 8ohm.. and no matter what ohm you play at you get the same resposne..

great amps....

I think they are only great amps when matched to JL subs (from what I hear)

The audiobahn A2200HCT is 1600 watts RMS at 1 ohm. That would cover any woofers I want in the future, but the only extra thing that it has (that my current one doens't) is a variable bass boost frequency from 40-100 hz (instead of just 45).

I'm having trouble deciding between that, and the JL 500.1 (which has lots of controls, but not that much powwer [underated ?¿?])

For an inexpensive amp look at a JBL 1200.1. Fairly inexpensive and 1 ohm stable. Should handle 1.5 just fine.

Just about any class D amp will be able to handle down to 1 ohm, JBL 1200.1 or HiFonics BX1000D are cheap and good amps. The fact that the subs are Dual 6 ohm (audiobahn alum im guessing?) has no effect on the sound.

JL 12W6's (old school). I'm gona sell my audiobahn A/B 400 rms to my friend for about $120 and try and get a JL 500.1 with some saved money +birthday funds (I might save for the JL 1000.1)

not just any class D will handle one ohm, in fact most dont want too becuase of the increased distortion, not to mention you are BEATING on the power supply.

pretty much every 1 ohm stble amp i see is pushing atleast 850 watts for 1 ohm.. and i'd rather just save up for the jl 1000.1
