If I were to attempt to take out my CD changer..

No big deal, or fuhgettaboutit?

I have never done anything even resembling auto audio.

I got a quote from Auto Audio in Neptune City to install my Alpine.

$75! I think when I had my Sony changer put in my last car it was over $100 at Circuit City...

Do you have an aftermarket cd changer? Where is it located?

Should be very easy to remove

What do you plan to do with it after its removed

It's the stock 6-disc one in the dashboard...

I pulled out the ashtray but that was as far as I got.

hehe

(If I manage to get that thing out there is still the problem of getting the CDs out of it though..) :(

Have the 9813 sitting here on the floor. I don't know. (goes to look)

Apparently yes:

V-Drive Hybrid Amplifier: A V-Drive MOSFET power unit is used to boost the incoming voltage from 14.4 volts (approx.) to 17.2 volts. The increased voltage allows the unit to deliver peak output of 60 watts x 4 channels. While providing high power output, this unit can draw a substantial amount of current, so the constant power wire must be connected directly to the positive terminal of the battery in your vehicle. For more info, please see the "Wiring Note" section below.

That means the battery will probably croak in the middle of nowhere.. haha

ummmmmmmmmmm, a simple yes would have done  but thats normal for that install, just make sure that they do indeed go directly to the battery.

Yeah, I'll make sure they run it to the battery.

So back to my original question:

Hard to take out the stock unit (6 disc changer) out of the dash? (and I have to get my cds out of it somehow)

Thanks guys.

:)

Thanks guys - doesn't look like too much there... But what about the clips? Should I be looking for all of those to try to free up the trim, like those 8 places I should jab in a little screwdriver or something?

Much appreciated - please understand - for me it's definitely "Car Stereo Removal for DUMMIES"...

Thanks again!!!

Just be patient when taking the trim off and do not rush. Work your way around the trim pulling it off a little bit each time. I've taken my dash trim off 2 times now and have also removed my a-pillar, drivers side kick panel, door sill trim, rear seat trim on drivers side, etc without ever breaking a clip. Its really not that hard as long as you are careful, patient, and gentle with the trim.

I've never had to use a screwdriver to help in the removal of the dash trim. If you find that you need to or think it may help, be sure to wrap the tip of it in tape so that you do not scratch anything.
