Anyone with Eclipse AVN???

Anyone with Eclipse AVN???

Postby stund41 » Sat Feb 10, 2007 7:48 pm

Hey guys,

just recently had my eclipse AVN 5435 installed in my car and it is absolutely perfect!!!! However the only thing I noticed was that at night time, the lights on the headunit would not light up. (Headunit also does not go into night mode when in navigation.)

When I went back to talk to the installer, he told me that only some cars are able to utilize the light function on the unit and besides, the lights on the unit are dimm anyway. (basically feeding me crap so he dosent have to go back in and tap into the lights.) Instead of arguing i figured it was probably easier to just fix it later.

anyway guys, anyone have a similar problem with these units or is he just flat out lying??? anyone have any install pics or wire tapping pics for the lights???? really wanted the lights on to match the all green interior (looks really clean inside)

as always any help is greatly appreciated guys!!!!

I have the avn6600 and the factory harness doesn't have illumination wire. So all I had to do was find the dimmer wire at the headlight switch at the steering column.

I used a test light and tapped into each wire and at the same time switch the headlamps on and off. You'll eventually find it

no toyota harness has illumination or dimmer wire... if you want them you have to catch them near the switch.
