Need rec's on a sub
Okay, kinda noob question, but anyway:
I'm starting to put some audio in my car. Right now, have stock JBL's. I know we've had a lot of posts like this, but searching them doesn't really answer what I wanna know. So, in order of when I plan to buy them:
1) Head unit- looking for something nice in the 150-dollar range, focused mostly on sound quality and can play MP3's (from a CD, not iPod). No need for DVD or anything like that.
2) Sub& amp- Looking for a little sub, single, probably 10". Not for shakin', but for quality low-end. Again, looking in the 1-150 area for sub, about 100 or less for amp.
A forum member is offering a 10" MTX for $100 to me, but I worry that's a bit too boom-y and not clear enough.
3) Component front speakers- I'll get these going at the end, b/c the JBL's are nice enough for now, but I do loves me some speakers. Looking for a total of about 200 for these two.
4) Rears- don't bother. I barely use 'em.
5) Install- anyone in MD/VA/DE/NJ good at this stuff? I can probably do the HU on my own, but past that I'm cooked, and I don't want to pay install fees if I can avoid it.
I know i've scatter-posted on this before, but this is a concise approach. Thanks in advance for help!
