i have nothing currently yet. well actually i have a Kenwood kac-624 amp tht i got as a freebie but its pretty old. i'd say my budget is at the most 300-400 for the subs, duno for the amp maybe 200, box i really duno, duno bout wiring either. a place around here my dad knows and they proly will do it for somewhat cheaper cuz hes bought stuff from them b4 and they give discounts cuz he knows em. anyway i duno hardly anythin about subs so any in tht 300-400 range tht are good lettme know and the amp proly for 200.

in your price range I would recommend either kicker CVR or Phoenix Gold Ti subs. IMO the best mainstream entry level subs on the market. The amp is really up to you for how much you want to spend and how much wattage you want, just dont get legacy, soundstorm, boss, bazooka, etc. I'd say post it on the forum for feedback before you buy anything.

idmax12 for the sub
amp should be between 600w rms to 1000w rms
box should be sealed

hell for 3-400, you can get plenty of good subs. Why even look at those junkers... check out Adire Audio's Brahma and like pro956 say the idmax. hot subs, good quality, high power.

would you say that's better than kicker S12L7?

The 12L7's will play loudly, however I imagine the Idmax would as well. I dont know for sure on sound quality on the Idmax but the kickers are more of an SPL sub than a sound quality subwoofer. With that said I have Kickers in my Solara and I like them very much. Crutchfield has/had the L5 12's on sale for 150 each which is pretty good deal.

Just another opinion, ya know what people say abt opinions....

l7 *might* get a tiny bit louder
i've heard both-- but there's a lot other factors involved, mainly the box

anyway, one thing i know is that the SQ will be like night and day
l7s aren't known for their sound quality... (which isn't bad-- but no where near an idmax's)

Oh god yes. The L7 will almost definitely be louder, but it takes a very well designed box to get any kind of SQ out of an L7. To get a butterworth alignment you need something like 7 cubic feet for a L715. What exactly is your price range?

On the sound quality kick. Infinity Kappa subs would be a good contender for a good nice sounding subwoofer. Probably not as loud as the Kickers or Idmax though...

Go wit an L5, i have a 10in and it hits pretty good wit a ported box.
L7 is the loudest i think.
My friend has 2 12in L7's and you can hear him form a block away. :o
And the rook of his car vibrates up & down, and you can see it move like no other.
