what speaker brands are best and what sizes do we have

after much thought, i decided to replace the speakers instead of getting a sub and amp. i have the non-jbl setup, and although it gets plenty loud for me, its not very crisp like the bose system in the avalon. i dont get that high fidelity sound that i love. so:

1) what size speakers do we have. i think its 6x9 in the back, and 5.25" in the front with a 1" tweeter, right?

2) what brand/type of speakers are best. i want some good mids and highs for the front, so i can get that high fidelity, CRISP, sound, and then something with more bass for the rear.

what do you guys recommend

I think your front speakers are 6.5". Thats what they are in my cam. I'm going with the image dynamics chameleon separates. With Arc Audio amps and Image dynamics IDQ12's in the trunk. 3 to be exact.

http://www.carreview.com/Speakers/Image%20Dynamics/PRD_22363_1805crx.aspx

Some other good brands are cdt, rainbows, focal, dynauio, diamond. Check out www.carreview.com Very good resource for reviews plus they tell you where to get the stuff cheap over the net. If going with Image Dynamics I reccomend you get them from www.sounddomain.com They are an authorized dealer and they price match. I'm getting the chameleon separates for 300 bucks.

everyone has a different ear than one other.

just go and try to find a place where they have speakers hooked up in a sound room.

that way you can somewhat get a better idea of what type of speakers your ear likes the most.

not really

you u won't get the "in car" sound

try to figure out who gives the best advice and spend the extra money on a good install

what's your budget for the speakers + install?

my budget is about 250-300 tops. i can do the install myself with the help of a friend. do you think i should buy a separate amp as well and bypass the stock unit's amp? but keep in mind, im not really going for loudness, just clarity and crispness. and can anyone verify spkr sizes

the audio shop i went to had a sound room. (not open air like frys or best buy.)

the room i was in was in the corner of the shop and def had the sound of a "in-car" feeling.

that room helped me decide to get the infinity speakers i use.

ok, let me clarify. i dont have the jbl sound system, just the stock crappy one. i'm also NOT looking to replace my headunit, only the speakers, and if necessary, bypass the stock headunit's amp and hook up an external amp (is this possible?). also i am NOT looking for subs. so can anyone tell me the spkr sizes?

Without built in RCAs that bypass the internal amp, you're boned!

Just get a decent headunit and add a amp/sub. It helps with clearity either way! If you add a sub to the stock headunit, it will sound like ass (only sounds good with Hondas, since they have so many options for adding subs to a stock headunit, we dont).
