I have a JBL powervalve 1200.1 running at 1 ohm. it doesn't sound all that great.

does anyone have any recommendations for powering 2 aluminum eclipses dvc 12"?

i don't like that amp either
too many ppl have hard ons for it though
no one ever thinks why it's so inexpensive

anyway, look for an older dei 1100d
the ones with the variable bass boost
those were solid amps down to one ohm and u should be able to pick up a nice deal on them...

What exactly does an amp sound like? The amp supplies power, it doesn't make sound. If there is a problem w/ distortion its either a ground loop, interference, or your clipping the amp. I have to agree I dont especially like JBLs amps myself, but you really can't blame the amp for a system sounding bad (unless its broken or malfunctioning). Alternatives= Hifonics BX1500D or BX1000D, and PG tantrum 1200.1 (very nice amp for the $ although I don't think its 1 ohm stable)
