RMS Voltage = .707 * peak voltage. Continuous RMS wattage is derived from the RMS voltage over any given span of time. Peak wattage is mathemtaically twice the RMS wattage, but is exteremely easily manipulated by shady companies, they can rate it only for a fraction of a second at a much higher input voltage than you would ever see in a car.
