tweeter replacement

Hi guys,

I'm thinking about replacing my speakers with an Alpine component system, but first, I was wondering have anyone replaced the stock tweeters yet?

How do aftermarket tweeters fit in that position? I took off my door the other day to see how it is attached. It already looks like I might have to make some kind off custom bracket to attack the tweeter.

So to sum it all up, please share your experiences replacing the Gen1-1.5 door tweeters, what you did, how you did it, etc...

I never installed a tweeter, but seems like there's just a bolt pushing it against the door panel.

Worst case you can take it apart yourself~

Which one did you decide on?

thanks man, but yeah, I already know how to open to door, I was wondering have other people installed new tweeters in the door. I was planning on getting Alpine Type S components. and yeah, they are 1 inch tweeters.

so NO ONE got after market tweeters or got a component system for the fronts?

Yeah I have the same question. There seems to be some different opinions on which ones fit the 1-1.5. I have been looking at some Alpine RType components and have the same concerns as you.

I got after market speakers and made a bracket out of acrylic strips. it doesnt need a lot to hold down a tweeter. got a sheet of acrylic i had laying around. made about a 5" long 1" wide strip, used a lighter to get the general shape of the stock bracket, test fit, drilled holes for the screws and double stick tape for the tweeter. used some sound deadening behind the tweeter grill so it doesn't rattle. took about 15 min a side.

so basically, it will take some custom work, not sway out old and just screw on new...

i took off the current bracket and just hot glued my new tweeter inside the grill around its edges. it holds perfectly and would be easy to remove down the road. no point in doing any extra work. glue gun costs 2 bucks, and 2 bucks for glue. 1" tweeter btw

Just un-screw the two philips screws that are holding the factory tweeter in and remove it. Glue new tweeters into the factory tweeter grill that you can simply pop out of the door panel, solder your speaker leads and be done.
