Amp install — Which wire for remote?

So I got around my N-85V issue. The subs sound great (with some minor adjusting here and there) but I can't figure out why the amp and subs stay on when the ignition is turned off.

I turn the car off and the subs start playing loud consistent base. Just base...

any thoughts?

the ampilifer has a wire is remote wires, the installer connect the wires with something that has consant voltage which is incorrect.

the purpose of the remote wire is a switch that when it sense electric, it will turn the amp on and vice versa. usually the aftermarket headunit has a wire for this

Do you think it's because I installed the remote wire to the thick Blue/Yellow wire instead of the thin Blue wire?

More than likely. Whats happening is that "blue" wire is not a switched power source, so even with the key off the amp is staying powered up and amplifying the "noise" coming in thru the rca's. Just connect the remote wire (the blue wire) to a switched power source either behind the radio or in the fuse box and put a 5 amp fuse inline to keep everythig safe.

any idea of which wire is a switched power source in a 00 Solara (color?) Because otherwise, I'm gonna have to mess with the fuse scenario :(

I tried the thin blue wire...it didn't work. Also found this:

Still not sure which color to go with :(

...man...my civic audio wiring was a walk in the park compared to this :(

U should really use a digital mutimeter when splicing into any factory wiring. See if you cant borrow one then drop $20 at sears for a cheap one - guessing at wires is a bad idea. Sorry off the top of my head i have no idea what color wire you could go to.

I used the accessory wire...gray one....either way, only one sub plays, and if I turn the radio off, both subs play noise

Hey Sol-toy....you have an aftermarket headunit correct ?? If you do then the harness that connects to your head unit should have one. Usualy it's a solid blue or blue/white.

If you're hooking up to a OEM HU that has a outboard OEM amp like JBL, use the red wire. That is "AMP ON" power on/off.

If you have the basic HU, I dunno what to say.

basic...and the gray wire isn't my answere...ugh...aftermarket HU's are so much easier. I'm gonna look into the red wire tomorow. I'm almost 100% sure it's an inbord amp...we'll see if it makes a difference though...

Thanks all!

I know that the red wire is only present on the stock HU with outboard amp. Yeah, aftermarket HU would def be a good idea.
