I'd recommend the JL 500/1 or Alpine MRD-M500. A lot of people like Xtant also, but I have no experience with them to recommend them. Their X1001 is supposed to be pretty nice.

I think gunman meant how many voil coils does it have. If it was an infinity perfect 10.1D thats dual voice coil, while 10.1 is Single voice coil.

I have (2) 10 inch perfect 10.1 with a JBL 600.1 and it sounds amazing. I love my system, it hits hard and clean

The way i have it setup is my JBL is a 600 watt RMS amp at 2 ohms.

I have (2) single voice coils which lets me run at a 2 ohm load to the amp and a 4 ohm load to the subs. It hits like you can't believe and the amp puts out way over 600 watts because its Class D and JBL rates conservatively. Also they are made from the same company Harmon.

Here is how i have it wired, http://www.infinitysystems.com/caraudio/2-4-2.asp

The subs costed me $140 each after shipping
The amp costs $195

These are great prices considering the retail is $299 per sub and $399 for the amp

I bought the subs from ebay and the amp from www.ikesound.com

I highly reccomend this combo. There are subs out there that hit harder, but very few can hit as hard as mine do and still sound clean. The sound never gets distorted.

Yank, is your amp a mono or 2 ch. amp?

Anyway, voice coils are what convert electrical energy into acoustical energy (music). By changing and adding voice coils we can manipulate how our amplifiers put out power. The key to music in mobile environments is to keep the amp playing at 4 ohms. This is where it's playing its best musically. Now if add another voice coil and bring the amp down to 2 ohms, yes the amp will put out more power, but we increase THD and in turn get a poor damping factory on its rating. Increasing power can be great if your gonna compete in SPL contest, but lets not get confused loud spl systems sound like $hit when you try to play music through them.
So for you music enthusiast, you need to place yourself in categories, are you looking for SP or SQ? Each is very different as far as your approach to your set up. Do you want the world to hear your car rock at 50hz and lower or do you want to sit back and listen to music that rocks your car?

Although SPL can be lots of fun :D
