Stock SE head - Fosgate amp?

Stock SE head - Fosgate amp?

Postby Sol-Toy » Tue Oct 11, 2005 10:24 pm

Hey guy's, I'm a newb to the site and a newb to Toyota. Greetings aside, I'm wondering if I can get some info on installing my old amp and subs into my solara.

I swapped my Fosgate amp and twin 12in IMPP's out of my old civic and want to install it into my Solara. I originaly had a Kenwood receiver with a pre-amp out in my civic but now I'm wondering if it's possible to install this with my stock SE receiver. It's the CD/Tape deck w/out the changer. Is there a unit that I need that will adapt the amp to the stock receiver? If not, do I need to locate a Solora SLE deck that has a pre-amp out? Or is it not even worth it? I'm not going to purchase a new receiver and I could care less about the sound quality being perfect (just want to get some more bass out of the whole set up - worse case scenerio, I'll dial down the gains if the bass is overbearing).

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance and I hope to frequent the site in the future!

You could buy a line output converter like this http://www.cardomain.com/item/STISALOC#vehicles and just tap into your rear speaker wires and connect this to them, not real good sound quality and an aftermarket HU would be a much better idea but this would work.

Man I did an install using the factory headunit in a 2005 Tacoma.

We installed DLS Iridium components powered off a DLS A3 amp, a DLS A6 amp powering an Image Dynamics IDMAX.

One of the best systems I've heard(I've heard alot)

For your situation a good quality LOC will do the job perfectly.

Dave Navone makes some of the best LOC's out there. His Autosound 2000 test discs are well worth the price too. He took the time to answer a ton of my questions. The only problem I had using my stock HU was the noise floor was a little high on my Solara's JBL system w/amp. I had to set the gains a little low to eliminate hiss. I even tried bypassing the amp with no success. Sound pretty good though.

Yeah that was the only problem, when the volume was up, and there was a break in the music, there was very slight background noise, but with music going, it was awesome, I was very impressed.
