Hey y'all:

After plunking down $1400 today (parts and labor), I have a brand new sound system. It is as follows:

Head Unit: Alpine 9847

Front Speakers: Blaupunkt Components. I forget the number, but the Alpine Type R's were too deep, and I didn't want to drill or cut anything.

Rear Speakers: Alpine Type-R 6x9

Sub: Alpine Type S 10"

Amp: Alpine something or other, V12
Kenwood KAC 7201

SOrry about lack of precision info- I've been up since 4:30 this morning, it's a long day. It's all on the receipt. (I'll edit this later).

No dynamatting yet, so far it's been PERFECTLY quiet, rattle-wise. I'm very happy.

Damn, $1400, that seems pretty steep. High labor? Hell, fly me out there, buy me a case of beer, and I would do it for nothing! Although airline tickets are kind of pricy nowadays.. :) I would show you how I did it all, so you would know too! Anyways good to hear you're having fun with it. Aren't you glad you got the sub also? I'm sure you will be!

Yeah, the sub is nice, doesn't kick me in the chest, but the bottom end is ROUND and SWEET and JUICY. That's how I like my girl's bottom to be. (Hence, what drew me to the Solara in the first place).

The 1400 came, essentially, from the fact that I didn't know anyone who would install it AND do free service forever and ever if I needed it. The parts came to about 1005, labor 350, tax 80. And he'll transfer it to my next car (another Solara, used, I hope) if/when I need it. I feel pretty good.

Okay, here's the exact models then, looked 'em up:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9847 Among other things, I love the color of the housing, and the functionality.

Front Speakers, Component: Blaupunkt ODc650. In my opinion, sound as good as the Alpine Type-R, but the mounting depth is LESS THAN 1.5". It's amazing. I love it. They use these, often, in Cadillacs when they want after-market audio. Caddies have iddddy-bitty door panels. Check these speakers here: http://www.midwestelectronics.com/produ ... cts_id/120

Rear Speakers, Coax: Alpine Type-R SPR-69LP

Subs: Alpine SWS-1022D 10"

Amps: For the main speakers: Alpine MRV-F340 55W x 4 Car Amplifier
For the Sub: Kenwood KAC 7201
