Aftermarket HU? Stock JBL?

Aftermarket HU? Stock JBL?

Postby Mossy » Tue Jul 26, 2005 5:26 am

I have a 00 Solara V6 SLE with the JBL 6 Disc In-Dash Changer.

I want to add my two 15 inch Kicker CompVrs to the trunk.

I want to have full control of the woofers and speakers.

I have an Aftermarket HU. That could control the AMP.

My question is? Can I buy a harness that will hook up my JBL system in my Solara to my aftermarket HU.

I really do not want to have to buy all new speakers and Amps. I would much rather just a harness to use the stock speakers.

Thank You Very Much.

^that's what he would need if he was keeping the stock stereo, but it looks like he is going to be using an Aftermarket CD player.

The problem I have with line-level converters is that you lose the ability to power the speaker. So, you use a line-level converter on one of your speakers (probably rear) to get signal for your sub. Then you have a dead speaker unless you add another amp for your mids. If you're going to do that, you might as well go completely aftermarket and have the ability to skip the external amp for the mids.

How is that? Don't you remove the wires from the rear speakers and put them into the converter? If so, how do the speakers get signal? If not, how does it work?

How did that go with the inline converter?

Its called an integration harness or something like that. It feeds your preouts to the stock JBL amp.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

i believe he just spliced the line driver into the speakers..splitting the signal between the two..
