Disappointment or Opportunity? Speakers

Disappointment or Opportunity? Speakers

Ok so i just got the whole rear interior removed. Thought i would save some money on the suspension upgrade by doing this portion myself. So after i got it all out I noticed that it seems i have to dig this deep to replace the rear speakers. :( I dont really want to take all this out just to put it back again. Originally disappointment, but then i thought why not look into replaceing them now? Sorry Im slow, working too much this week. Suggestions on rear 6x9s and component front speakers. I was thinking POLKs? Had them in my last car, worked well. Or is there a way to change them out without all this work?

^^ agreed, sorta.

save your money. buy a sub. get top of the line components for your fronts, the rears are just fill and the stockers will do fine. i regret putting kappas in for my 6x9's because my fader is biased way front. i get a real nice soundstage with that setting.

MB Quart, Infinity, Focal, Boston Acoustics, and Diamond Audio are some places to start. It really depends on what you want to spend. On the low-end, you can get spend about $150 and get a decent set. On the high-end, it gets crazy ($500+, easy)

Yup, take em out, and leave them open. Two things are going to happen.

1.Increased output from sub.
2.Won't interfere with the sound quality of a nice front end system.

I'm so against rear fill EXCEPT if you are trying to put together a 5.1 system for watching DVD movies.

If just for music, it makes no sense at all to have rear speakers. (if you have upgraded your fronts and properly deadened the doors, and amped your components)

I think the main reason why people think they need rear speakers s because a stock sound systems loudness is going to be lacking when just the fronts are being played.

If you install a good set of components up front, deaden the hell out of the front doors, and send a bunch of power to your components the sound will just sound right. It's hard to explain. But in the high end SQ installs, the goal is to recreate a sound "stage"

You want it to sound like there is a live performance on you hood. Installing rear speakers is just going to screw up your imaging and pull the soundstage back and make it sound like the music is coming from your head. That's not the way it's supposed to be. IMO of course :D

I'm with Cam2xrunner. Leave em out. Seeing as you see how much trouble it is to get to the speakers, I would suggest that you consider remounting them from the bottom. Then you can always change them, remove them etc.

rear speakers

Postby hskrsolara » Fri Aug 05, 2005 11:38 pm

Just dropped my Infinity Kappa 693.7i's in the rear deck. Full infinity system now. It was a dirty little sluut to get those in with the new mounting brackets, Raammat, baffles, etc. Bolted those suckers down, lock washers/nuts from the top, I feel sorry for any dumba$$ that tries to take them, they will need some major help! Anyways, I will post when I get the amps hooked back up and tuned. As for your decision on the 6x9 replacement, if you ever decide to lose the subs, your system will sound a hell of a lot better with at least the stocker 6x9's in. If there is any doubt about the subs or selling the car in the future, keep some 6x9's back there. If you replace them, Check out some great deals on infinity's on ebay, thats where I got all my speakers.

Thanks for the info all, I left them in for the time being. I figured that it didnt take me that much time to get that far in, that and the fact that the funding kinda dried up after the suspension upgrade. But Ill upgrade in the near future. couple of months, after the move, Ill get back to it.

Just leave them in. It's not worth replacing them since you really want your sound coming from the front, but its nice to be able to turn them on when people are riding in the back seat.

IMO dont take the rear fill out unless your a SQueer or you are entering a comp.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
