i am looking into purchasing aftermarket navi, anyone have experience with any aftermarket navi system? i was looking into garmin. i need something portable since i travel alot with different cars. thanks.

if you need it to be interchangable with cars, that'd be the best choice. I think they are about 1000 retail.

My boy has the Magellan Roadmate and it works pretty good, compact in size and for about $1000 (I think there on sale now)

those hand-held gps are really portable.

just not as detailed as a HU style gps.
