Fact or Fiction

Hello,

I wanted to give you folks a heads up on the majority of the state laws, etc on mobile video.

Fiction- It's against the law to be watching a video while driving.
Fact- It's against the law to be watching pr0n while driving

Actually, it is illegal in many states for a front monitor to be on and or visible to the driver while the vehicle is in motion, while only a few states have laws regarding pronographic materials. check here to see what you states says.

Gunman - its great to see you back.

Good thing I didn't upgrade my avic-n1 software.

Does anyone know if the new upgrade will also lock out programming the navi while driving. I don't ever watch dvds, but i do like to be able to program my gps or reroute while driving

What about using the navigation?

Lots of new car come stocked with the navigation screen anyway. Video/games/movies is illegal, but navigation is not.

navigation is the only exception in all states. the avic n2 and the avicd1 will only cut out the video monitor whent the vehicle goes over 5mph. Any one with the avic n1, be carefull and dont load the avicn2 disc for updated maps, cause it will load the video bypass turning your n1 in to an n2. :(

and if your wondering what the avic d1 is, its the double din version of the n1, which will have a cd slot and dvd slot as well, and you can still eject the nav map and it will load the route in is memory. Here's a better look :D

I miss that so much about my Pioneer NAV-SYS900DVD. I hate not being able to play music and use all the navi features. Granted it does have memory, but I have swapping discs.

So if i were to put in the upgrade, I wouldn't be able to program nav while driving over 5mph correct?

yep, basicallly any function that requires the parking brake featue, will automatically be unavailable. I bet they havent thought about looping the video out into the video camera in, and flip that screen on since it allows you to view the rear camera while driving, the only down side is you wouldnt be able to touch control the dvd when driving.

The new double din radio from Pioneer does have 2 disc slots. However, 1 is for CD and the other is for the DVD ROM nav disc only. No memory nav or DVD movie player built in. You have to use an external DVD player for video. As for nav it will continue to work as usual when you are driving.

So many experts yet so much miss information

my bad, i was going on our pioneer trainning a few months back for new product, where they mentioned the d1 was basically an n1, weve been excited to just see the pics. Guess some things got changed or the web site wasnt updated? Makes me wonder about our kenwood trainning last month where they laid out on new double dins as well, like 5 volts, 3-d sound enhancements, better background pics. Its suppose to be like a kvt815 and 915 versions but in double din. That was in march, and was still in the middle of being designed, but from the way he spoke we should see them by the earliest , mid summer. I would get that one for my truck, and the 25th anniversary edition of the kvt915 for the solara, that is coming out cause they had it and demo it,but well see on their double dins too. But if thats the final version of what pioneer is releasing, thats pretty sad
