CAR PC Suggestions

Postby Willy7o2 » Wed Nov 03, 2004 4:37 pm

I want to put a PC in my car .... I'm concerned about the following... please help:

Where would the 7" Touch Screen Go?

Should I replace my CD-Changer with the Car PC?

Would I need a new amp if I do take the CD-Changer out?

Are the any Car PC Products that work as a normal CD-Player without powering up the O/S. Windows loadup takes so long, sometimes I just wanna listen to a CD and go.

Anything else to be concern about?

Where would the 7" Touch Screen Go? Get a flip screen dvd player w/ touch screen capabilities! Replace your factory one w/ that (do they have the gen 2 stereo 'plastic thingy' yet ?)

Should I replace my CD-Changer with the Car PC? You need the touchscreen player! Sound processing straight from a PC w/o an amp would suck

Would I need a new amp if I do take the CD-Changer out? Yes, unless you get the touch screen

Are the any Car PC Products that work as a normal CD-Player without powering up the O/S. Windows loadup takes so long, sometimes I just wanna listen to a CD and go. - Yes MSI makes a "to go" PC that's small and you can independently operate the CD player or radio w/o turning the computer all the way on.

Anything else to be concern about? Power supply! You have to hardwire it if it's more than 150 watts (and a PC will obviously be more) and you may have to worry about generator noise from the ac/dc adapter you need! Good luck!
