sub/amp/high-low converter problem???

Postby s e y t o n » Sat Aug 21, 2004 11:37 pm

whenever i turn off my head unit, my sub hits at a constant full force. only way to stop it is to turn the head unit back on.

this happened to me about twice (in a span of about 2 months) before i put in my new sub today. but now it happens every time. im thinkin it (the consistency) might be due to changing some settings on the amp after todays install. the only difference in my system as of today is i swapped out my old pioneer sub for a new fosgate sub.

any ideas as to why this is happening?

my current sound system set up:
-stock head unit & interior speakers
-high-low converter
-pioneer 760 watt amp
-fosgate punch 12" sub

upgrade to eclipse?! =P j/k

It may be due to that fact you don't have a remote amp power on line (upgrade the headunit!) I don't know why the subs hit, but I'm sure part of the problem is the remote on

Good luck!

turning the gain down should help. the gain is usually on the back of the amp little knob. :drinking:

ok so i turned the gain down to a point where the sub wouldnt hit when i turned the head unit off. but the sub would be barely hitting when the head unit was on... so i turned the gain back up to the way it was... is this pushing my sub too hard or causing any potential problems? can i just leave it like this and never turn the head unit off? any other ways of fixin this without takin away all the power from the sub?
