How to correct rear view mirror vibration?

2001 Solara SLE w/JBL. Is there any way to correct the rear view mirror vibration created from the stock amp? Now that I have installed an external amp and sub, it's that much more pronounced, but even with the stock system it sucked.

the one on my '99 was rattling like a bitch, but i pushed it in again and it did much less (not rattle, just shake)

I should have been clearer - it shakes. Is there any way of preventing (or limiting) the shaking it does? I have noticed a bit of play in the mirror and asked the dealer to fix it, but they said it was normal. I'd like to hear if anyone else has found a way to make it shake less.

I know what you mean. Mine shakes whenever the bass hits, and I dont even have a sub. It shook even when I was stock w/o JBL.

Difference is I like the shake. Makes the bass hit that much more pronounced.

I dont know if there would be a way to fix it. The problem is that its connected by a thin piece to the windshield, and its free floating other than that. I cant think of anyting except maybe epoxy or glue in some places, but I dont think you wanna do that.

I guess the best way to deal with it is to learn to like it.

once you get upgraded suspension works, mirrors are the least of the worries of shaking items.

you might want to try purchasing aftermarket mirrors. don't know which one though.

non motorized ones should be fairly stiff.

Mine came loose after 2 weeks of intense bass playing when I first started using my sub. It would make a annoying rattle noise, and have some play with it, then I tightened it with the appropriate tool (theres a small nut or something, its black you can see it when you look up at it from underneath) and it "tightened it to the windshield" or something. Worked since then. It gets more rattly when its extremely hot or extremely cold outside, and that goes for the whole body (trunk lid, rear window, spare tire well).

Getting an aftermarket mirror won't necessarily help out the "rattling & shaking" . . . just help out the width of your view of the rear. I have 2 12" Digital Designs subs and they fricken pound . . . sometimes too hard :-?

. But I just turn the bass down to either negatives or 0 and it helps somewhat. I think the best solution would be to tighten the screw which attaches the mirror to the windshield. But you don't want to tighten it toooo tight tho . . . you could damage it. A friend did that in his. Peace.

yeah i don't have any advice, i havn't tried to tighten mine up yet...
every now and then i really turn my system up and the damn mirror just rattles all the way down so i can't even see out the rear window

glue some kind of sound deadening material(dynamatt,liquid roadkill,etc.) to the mirror and reattach it...just an idea....personally i love shaking the crap outta my mirrors someone already said it makes the bass that much more pronounced....

when I have the bass up in my car my mirror doesn't just shake, it ajusts. After a few hits, when I look in the rear view mirror I can see my shoulder. I would advise getting used to using your side mirrors when your system is up, they shake a lot less and dont get ajusted.

Well as of today I will be experiencing no more rearview mirror rattle. The thing just tore apart today, damn bass. It was so loud too.
