i think my cv joints might be bad but i wanna make sure before i order new ones if im right any tips on how i would check mine to see if they are bad, the reason i think they might be is becasuse i changed out my strut mounts and i think i might have over extened the cv joint because i didnt have the hub sitting good and for a little while it was leaning out pretty good and when i drive i hear a very sublte almost grinding sound it is very faint but if its just starting to get bad id rather just replace them now

Bad CV joints usually make a clicking sound especially when reversing.

Agreed - worn CV joints make a clicking when turning hard one way or the other. Your subtle grinding may be from a bent hub backing plate that may have been pushed when the suspension was apart. Also check your front pad wear indicators and slides.

PS - Easiest way to fix a bad CV joint is to buy a reman or new complete axle. Many online sources with reasonable prices. I recently found brand new ones for an older Celica for about $75 each - entire axle.

If you have pulled the CV joint out too far you can re-seat it and it should be fine.

If it was stuck too far out, it never would have fit back into the hub splines and tightened down properly. I guess we're assuming that it did since the car is now driving.
