Good day, all,

I'm a new Solara owner as of last week with a black 2002 SLE convertible that I'm very much enjoying. When I test drove before purchase on a 90F afternoon, I tried the A/C and ran through the fan speeds, mode and fresh/recycle functions without issue. I wasn't familiar w/how the automatic climate control works and just experienced this morning that my unit appears to be stuck on the "max cold" setting -- the temp. control knob doesn't function. Pushing will toggle the outside temp on/off, but I can't get to any state where heating occurs. The "auto" mode is set for max cold and manual mode displays the same.

I see an older post about disconnecting the battery for a few minutes which I'll try this evening. I don't see many other posts debugging automatic climate control issues and wanted to ask for ideas. Thanks for reading!

I enjoyed the top down this morning at 57F but one of my teenagers in the back seat was a little chilly. =)

Cheers,

I tried disconnecting the battery for ~40 minutes and the temperature reset from "max cold" to 75. Still no response from the knob, either up or down, though perhaps I'll be able to get some heat support as the weather turns colder. =) All other CC functions work fine. I'm going to look at how to remove the climate control module and see if spraying contact cleaner on the knob or solder touch-up helps, as well as any visible signs of electrical/electronic degradation. If you've tinkered inside the module, I'd love to hear what you found or if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.... Thanks.

Cheers,
Adam

Bought a used CC unit off eBay and that fixed the issue. Took about 10-15 minutes to swap out and test. Glad to have temp. control.
