Replacing driver's seat in 2002 SE

Postby lizard_boy » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:34 am

I need to replace the driver's seat in my 2002 SE and I wanted to double check which model years had seats that could be used. My understanding is that Gen 1 & 1.5 seats are the same, just wanted to make sure this is correct. I have the tan cloth seats in my '02 and have developed two large tears in the seat. I was quoted $150 - $200 to reupholster the seat and someone suggested it might work better to just replace the entire seat. I've found a few local scrap yards with Solara seats from '99 - '03 (tan cloth) and just want to make sure it will work before I buy one.

Alternatively, do Camry seats from the same time work in the Solar?

Thanks.

Thanks - it looks like the salvage yards near me have Solar seats from 1999, 2000, and 2002 available. so the '99 and '00 should work fine just as well as the '02, right?

One more question. I'm having trouble finding a manual seat in the color I need, is it possible to use a power driver's seat in a car that didn't originally come with a power seat? Thanks.
