BAAHH! Timing belt ?'s

So, I'm pretty sure I blew my timing belt on the way to work today. Car stalled, could not restart it by popping the clutch. Car made a really loud whining noise when it appeared to be running, but no throttle response from gas pedal.

1st question: I'm pretty certain the 4-cyl. 2.2L 5S-FE is a non-interference engine, but if I could get a definite on this, I'd appreciate it.

2nd question: Any ideas on parts? Rockauto has an AISIN kits for sale w/ the following components for ~$100:

AISIN Water Pump
Koyo Idler Bearing
Koyo Tensioner Bearing
Mitsuboshi Timing Belt
Water Pump Gaskets & O-Rings

Is this a decent buy or should I consider different parts (car is about as stock as you can get)?

Ok, quick update: locally, I can pick up a Gates component kit + water pump from Carquest for ~$127 or a Dayco component kit + water pump for ~$150 from Advanced. I'm leaning towards one of these over the Rockauto kit b/c of time.

If anyone could let me know if I should steer clear of one (or all) of these, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Did you have any RPM's when you cranked it? I'm not sure if the 5S-FE is interference (my solara is a 2.2L also), but if you blew the motor up that way you would hear it for sure when you try to crank it over. The pistons would be hitting the valves which would probably have gotten stuck in the open position, which in turn bends them up into the head. That happened to my old '99 Nissan Altima GLE when the timing chain snapped. Personally I would go with as close to an OEM kit as possible.

When the belt breaks the engine should not run. Period.

There may be some inertia from it running but in the end everything should stop. Turning the starter will get the crankshaft moving and nothing else if the belt is broken. Before doing anything pull the belt cover off and look. If broken it should be broken.

If you want to stick to OEM Denso is the company. But I see no problem buying from the Rock. Good prices and fewer problems than other companies.

so i wanted to update this post w/ some information that might be helpful to other users.

1) the 5S-FE is a NON-INTERFERENCE engine. i know this because i was moving at about 50mph when the belt broke (even tried to pop-start the car b/c i thought it just stalled) & i didn't need a valve job. either that or valve jobs are incredibly cheap these days.
2) i ended up putting a timing kit from CRP automotive in it. don't know a whole lot about CRP, but my mechanic sounded pretty confident that it was a smart investment.
3) in addition to the water pump, it makes sense to do the serpentine since all that crap has to come off anyway. it should add less than $50 to the repair cost.
4) if you don't know a great deal about cars or don't have access to a full-range of shop tools, i wouldn't recommend tackling this on your own. the service manual lists about a dozen SSTs that are needed to complete the job.
