alright so this just happened today. My seat wont "click" to the upright position allowing the seat to move forward and backward. not sure how to fix that kind of problem.
have a gen1 solara sev6 5spd. thanks guys

Yup mine too. Moves on one side of the track only so much back and forth like somethings stuck but I can't find it...:(

on a side note check the fuses and connections to see if they have come apart or broke...

nono u misunderstood. my seat cannot stay at the up-right position and can only lock in place at the reclined all the way back position

You have to move the seat around until the catch finds the slot. The other issue is that the catch mechanism is worn out and may need to be replaced. I have seen a few in the yards as you have described.

yea i took my seat apart and noticed that it wasnt catching. assuming i call toyota up they'll only sell it as a whole. so ill end up spending 500 bucks for a catch. pshhh. OFF to the JUNKYARDS!!!

Agreed, junkyard run! I had the seat frame for the back fail in my old '89 Maxima and Nissan wanted $1200 for a new seat/frame assembly. No way! Went to a junkyard and got a whole seat for $75!
