Varying Levels of Coolant

Varying Levels of Coolant

Postby leeton » Mon Aug 09, 2010 4:00 pm

Two weeks ago I changed the front cover gasket and disconnected the radiator hose inadvertently and all the coolant leaked out over a few days due to the old clamp. Bought a new clamp and the leak was gone.

Changed the oil last night, didn't see anything funny in the oil. What i notice is that the coolant levels in my reservoir have been changing. I had filled it to the full line after i had fixed the leak. Then i noticed a week later that the coolant is near the LOW line when the car is cold. I looked under my car i noticed a fresh stain on the floor but it did not look like coolant. It could have been water and i alternate parking spots in a tandem spot.

Anyways, i turned the engine on and drove around for abit, came back and the coolant was close to the FULL line, this is when the engine is warm. Next day, i check the coolant again and its back to the LOW line indicator. I'm guessing there isn't a problem and i'm just being paranoid.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

im pretty sure thats normal, if you check it when its cold, then check it a week later when its cold, it should be at the same level, but you cant compare checking it when cold vs. checking it when hot.

The coolant system is still bleedin' the air out.
Just keep it full for a couple of days.
Don't let it go empty.
