Emblem removal

Postby solara1989 » Wed Jan 20, 2010 9:19 pm

So...taday after getting out of school i decided to stop by a local body shop and ask how much it would be for them to remove the emblems on the sides nd the ones onthe trunck and also to repair a small hole about 3 inches in diameter on the rear bumper...the guy told me the job will cost me $400 , not including the removal of the emblems on both sides of the car, according to him my car's paint is "really expensive". i was going to try to remove them myself but i dont know if the letteringsare drilled into the car or their just glued...
any comments ppl?

There's a tutorial on this. Basically just use a hair dryer (NOT a heat gun) to slowly heat and use some dental floss to "cut" it off.

if ur a gen 1/1.5 then you can use something like goo-gone + fishing line to "floss" (like you would your teeth) the emblems off the trunk.

whatever residual adhesive that is stuck to your trunk can be 'rolled' off with your fingers.

hair dryer works too, but that's a waste of electricity in the winter. goo gone will work at any time of year.

can't help you with the dent or the paint.
