Gauge Cluster Light remedies??

Gauge Cluster Light remedies??

Postby wooshkie90 » Wed Jan 06, 2010 11:03 am

Hey I just got inspired to remove the stock orange color on the needles in the gauge cluster. While I had all the stuff out, I decided to mess around with the lights. My question is, has anyone out there come up with a remedy of what to use to change the color besides different light bulbs. What I mean is, that green rubber skin type thingy on the bulbs. Is there anything to substitute that with a different color?? I know my question is confusing, but I think you get the idea.
Southern Cali does em best!

Check an autoparts store for cheap interior strobes. I think they use covers that may fit. Also you can do an LED retrofit. There are guys on here that have done it, though I have not. Also, AutoMeter has stuff that may work. Other than that, you can try nail polish. PythonJosh did all that stuff to his ride and made a pretty good tutorial so do a search and you might find a lot of helpful information.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

LED bulbs help alot in terms of brightness as long as you get ones that have a fairly large degree of coverage. This means a single bulb stalk with multiple LEDs on it, and you can buy them in whatever color you want.

I used leds in my gauge cluster along with reverse glow gauges so it worked out nicely to use leds. BTW, reverse glow looks vverrrrry nice with a stainless steel or brushed aluminum bezel.
