My car has been shutting off

My car has been shutting off

Postby SpeedySolara » Wed Dec 30, 2009 4:06 pm

Maybe you guys could give me some insight and/or solutions to fix my issue. My car has been shutting off on me for the past 3 months (approximately) every so often. It usually happens after a hard run once I come to a stop. It starts by reving low and ultimately shuts off unless I rev it up to avoid it from turning off. I thought it was my clutch and/or needing a tune but after both have been done this problem still persists. Again, it happens every so often for the past few months so its not something that happens every single time I'm stopped but it is a concern. Any ideas?

clean out your throttle body and if it persists it sounds like a fuel pump/line issue.

I have the same problem.
I think it's the idle control valve.

We could still look at the IAC as King suggested, but with plugs that have 20k on them and just went thru a day or so with Supra injectors (no tune) and then a dyno tune, those spark plugs need replacement. (I had a talk with speedy about this as well).

either way, we will get to the bottom of this! lol, cya at adam's.

Doubt it's the plugs still. They won't foul that easily. I'm still on the same set since I got boost, and my car's been through he'll and back tune-wise.

Also, of it was spark or fuel related, there would be serious misfires at high rpms as well.

The fact that he says the car stumbles and then dies after hard runs meanthat the iac is responding slowly due to heat and the extra load from the blower is causing the car to stall as the iac can't respond fast enough. Clean it or replace it (worse case) and of should be fine
