P0135 - Not O2 sensor?

P0135 - Not O2 sensor?

I had this p0135 code (senor1 bank1) for a while, so i went on ebay and got me a new oxygen sensor for a good price. Got it installed 1-2 weeks ago and check engine went away. Good times.

But the mech told me that my front pipe is leaking air and might casue the same code to re-appear. So, as you he has guessed, yesterday while driving like a normal human being, i get the nice check engine. I go to the garage and as he has guessed, p0135 (sensor1 bank1)... but he tells me that it should be the front pipe which sounded that it is leaking. That front pipe i am refering to is the flexible pipe made out of lots of criss-crossing metalic wires and that is protected with a mini cage (which i lost), under the car.

Does this whole story make sens to you guys? Can the p0135 be the ebay sensor went bad after 1 week? or is it possible the garagest is right?

If the leak is before the sensor, then it is very possible. So in your case, the leak would have to be at the exhaust manifold to the block to cause that code. It is possible if you have a HUGE hole in your flex to do that too (the exhaust then moves too quickly), but it would have to be pretty big.
