high oil pressure?

high oil pressure?

So i changed my oil and decided to put on the oil filter sandwich adapter to hook up the oil pressure gauge. It has 4 ports, 2 1/8 npt, and 2....3/8, or something like that. My plan was to plug both 3/8 ports, use one 1/8 for the gauge and the other for the turbo oil feed. Turns out there's a feed and return side  so that ain't gonna work. Well anyway, i hooked it up to proper side...i have one of those pressure gauge nylon tubing installation kits...(per VDO instructions) and fired up the car...gauge read about 90 psi :o and i heard an odd tapping sound, not the normal valvetrain noise, this was a little louder. I shut off the car, checked everything and tried again, same thing, so i took everything off and put just the filter back on. No noise  I'm f*ckin lost. So the sandwich adapter seemed to be a waste of money. I guess i'll have to tee it off the oil pressure sending unit instead....or maybe i can still use it and run a restrictor on the turbo, and plug the other ports. Or maybe my gauge is f*cked, i dunno. Any ideas?

not sure about the noise, but nothing wrong with using the sandwich adapter

and 90psi sounds about right if the engine isn't warmed up. once it's fully warmed up, I believe idle should be around 20psi or so
