have a oil leak on my 99 v6 solara. 119,000. had a buddy look at it and he thinks its either the cam seals or the crank seal. the oil leaks on the passenger side near the belts. has nayone experienced this or know if one is more likely then the other. also, what costs are involved if i bring it to a shop. thanks.

i had a buddy at work look underneath it and said that there is another aluminum pan attached to the steel oil pan? That is where its leaking just wondering what this component is? the clutch inspection plate is also attached, maybe a cooler of some sort?

The seals leak, like any others. They should be changed WITH the timing belt. To replace them, you need to take the timing belt off.

Ya ^^^ i second that... Although i had this problem about 2 weeks ago with my previous car... If it's not leaking from the top of the engine down, then that eliminates any valve issue... Turned out to be a crank position sensor that was causing the leak... 150-200$ fix for part and labor. lol i could be wrong tho
