99 SLE Solara won't start...even after jump

Postby robbievelasco » Mon Sep 15, 2008 2:05 pm

I started my car and left the office for lunch and everything was fine. After lunch I go to start my car again and the engine cranks for about a second and then I get repetitive clicking. I tried to jumpstart the car and still the same problem. No cranking, just clicking. Could it still be the battery or is most likely the starter? If it's the starter does anyone know of any good companies or brands of starters to get at the cheapest price?

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

If your starter is bad it will almost always start eventually, or if you hit the starter it should also start.

In most cases you can replace just the starter contacts and it isn't necessary to replace the starter itself.

i think thats a battery issue. i had the same problem last year. even with a jumpstart the car struggled to turn on. roll starting my car was the only way to get it powered. you could probably get away with a trickle charger overnight also, but its a hassle.. good luck

 I think you should first check the connection to the battery. Allot of times it can get lose and only give you a little continuity. Make sure the fittings are clean and tight. If the problem persists just get it checked for free at any local parts store. That goes for the starter too.

As for replacement parts…

… Optima Red for a battery and OEM starter from a dealer is what I like.

Good Luck

Thanks for all your help!!!
I had the battery checked and it was fine and then I had the starter tested and that was the problem. So I got the new starter and installed it. Everything is perfect now!
