Clutch Clicking sound

Clutch Clicking sound

Postby no_escape » Mon Jul 07, 2008 5:18 pm

car: 99 SE V6 5 speed

Problem:
When I engage the clutch, I have a Click/Ting 3/4 of the way in.
When I disengage the clutch, I have the same click/ting 1/4 of the way out.

Now for the intresting part... when the car is warmed up, the clutch makes a light grinding sound. However not all the time I will hear this sound.

I can still shift easily in gears and have no problems getting out of them either. I bleed the lines in April since I had water and air in the lines.

any ideas?

so, basically, when your clutch is engaged on the flywheel, there is no noise and when it's disengaged, there IS noise?

if that is the case, then I agree with pete- throw out bearing / release bearing

Sorry guys, I'm bad at explaining things. I drew it up, this might help.

That's the point when engaged and disengaged I hear the noise.

I would assume that the point where the flywheel is engaged would be before that.

I know the trans was serviced at 145,xxx and the release bearing was replaced, along with new clutch plates, pressure plates, restored flywheel, and new fluid.

So do you hear the 'clicking' inside the car near your foot, or coming from the outside (under the hood)? If its the inside, i would think you're hearing the actual clutch switch....

about 30 min.
You'll need a second person to push in the clutch when your ready to bolt the new slave on.
Be ready for the hard line you dissconnected to squirt brake fluid all over when the clutch is pushed in.
Have some sort of pan or card board underneath the car.
