V6 5-speed?

V6 5-speed?

Postby 20solara » Thu Jun 12, 2008 8:07 am

I searched and searched, but cant seem to find any production/sales numbers for the V6 5-speed. I keep hearing that they are rare, anyone know how many were built?
Thanks .

there's quite a few 5spd v6's on the forum
*ahem*

I guess they are kinda rare. I called a local toyota dealer for a part and right away he assumed my car was an auto

Mine is also a V6 5-speed, and I really like the car. Just wondering if they are rare or if everybody just wants them because they respone better to mod's.

Took me 4 years to find my dream car: 97 Maxima 5sp, white... One of the major car magazines says less than 10% of Maximas come in manual.

Now my search for Solara was easy to find 5sp, but most were i4. Between Craigslist and AutoTrader, there were 3-4 of them V6 5sp. I got 1 of them, and it only took me 1 month. However, I live in LA/OC, where there's more cars than people.

^^^ I found manual V6 Maximas and Solaras when I was looking a few years ago, but they are definitely in the minority. It took me over 4 months to finally find mine.

Most of the 5-speeds are I-4 because it moves the Solara's behind a bit better, but 1-1.5Gen owners were blessed with V-6 to pair. 2-2.5Gen owners have no such option.

Kinda the same thing happened to 1-2Gen Ford Taurus SHO owners (those cars rocked - engine I mean)... 3Gen SHO owners had a 3.4L V-8, but no manual... thus, that was the end of the road for the SHO.

V6 5 speed manual = rare in the Solara community.
Majority of the Solara's are auto's.
2000 Solara SE auto V6. Diamond White Pearl.
Top Speed Run finished at 130 mph. :o
Too many modifcations for the signature.

Wasn't it around 5% of total production? Good to see that many of that 5% made it here!

5% is much lower than I would have thought, even if that is just an estimate. I feel quite lucky!

I can't find any here in Puerto Rico... there probably are, but I could use my hands to count them! Same goes for my 2ng Gen 5-speed... they thought it was imported!
