windows not working!!!

Postby 2000goldsolara » Thu Jun 05, 2008 5:04 pm

So for a while I've been having some trouble with my driver side window sometimes it will work for months and sometimes it will give me trouble and not work and then it will again and right now it won't. I also had to reset my battery to turn off my check engine light and NOW both windows won't roll down! What's going on. Is there a fuse I can replace or something cheap and easy?

if both dont work there is a chance you blew a fuse. take your door apart and grab onto the motor for the window if it gets hot than your motor is going bad you can take it apart and clean it and it should work...or just buy a new one

like i said you could take the door trim off.
slide your hand till you grab onto the motor and hit the switch down. If the motor warms up and the window doesn't move the motor is going bad.

same thing happened to me, stopped working....i played with it and nothing, i drive 30mins and it works. I also looked in my receipts and it looks like the unoriginal owner had the same problem...charged him 100$ to replace the wires. hopefully yours get stuck UP, rather then down like mine were, i was freaking out.

I was driving a POS '81 VW RABBIT (DIESEL!) through Chicago, on the Dan-Ryan freeway at speed, and I hit a pot-hole and the window dropped into the door... DROPPED! :o

...it was January or February, and FREEZING out! I remember pulling over and spending an hour-and-a-half pulling the door apart along the side of the road, then wedging the window in the UP position with some crap laying around in the hatch, and a roll of silver DUCT TAPE that MATCHED the silver car exterior. We had a NUMBER of the cars RUST SPOTS patched with this tape, too.

Last VW I will ever own or drive. (I know, I know... they are not all that bad, but the ELECTRICAL ISSUES ALONE with that car... like the SMOKING DASH, and failing functions...)
