2. one for me. and another for the forgetful part of me.
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

Does a 1999 solara have a transponder chip in it? Cause I always take mine whenever I go surfing and it always works and still works when I crank it.

I think from the factory the car come with two master (black) keys and a valet (gray) key all with remotes. My car came with one black and one gray key from the dealership I got it from. I bought a third remote and programed it but never got around to getting the key. It costs too much.

I got 5...

-1 OEM valet key w/transponder

-1 metal key cut by the dealership (long story short, bad ECU+car only shipped with the valet key=they had to cut one and mail the ECU to TMC)

-2 generic master keys w/transponder... The plus side to this is that I can trick some chicks into thinking I drive an exotic car... "Wanna cruise in my Strattec, cutie?"

-a plastic wallet key by AAA

2 fobs
2 keys (one black master, one grey valet)

yes the 99 has a transponder in it, but since it's totally encased in the black plastic, i don't think it has issues with getting wet, hence your car starts after dunking your keys
