I was reversing out of my driveway today to go to school, and ntohing special really, wasn't going fast or anything, and as i put it from R to D (i dont ever push the shift button thing cuz it locks by itself when it hits D), my car shook and it died... :o .. the steering wheel wouldnt turn either.
i had to restart my car and everything worked normally.
when my car shut off, all my electronics and everything were still powered..
what might be the cause of this?..
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

my friend was trying to do a burnout in his altima. He was goin in reverse and then shifted into D right away but then it stalled. I laughed at him and made fun of him for stalling an automatic.

did u come to a complete stop before going into drive? because if not, the transmission probably sensed something akward and had the ecu shut ur car off.

Rollaevo99, That sounds like a starter issue.
Jeff, I don't know what that could be, but normally all your electronics and stuff stay on when you kill the engine (in a standard) My friend stalled my truck (Auto), He did something similar. He shifted from R to D without using the brake. All is well though.

Jeff, same thing happened to me in my pop's Avalon, i just cut off the engine, and restarted it, no problems since.

Make sure the key is turned all the way and you use your break when shifting gears.
