OEM or aftermarket rotors

OEM or aftermarket rotors

Postby andrew_alfonso » Sat Sep 15, 2007 7:05 am

Hi everyone,

I just replaced my front disc brake pads with OEM. However, I still notice a pulsating vibration when I depress my brake pedal on highway speeds, which tells me I should have replaced the rotors as well. Should I go with OEM rotors or aftermarket ones should be fine? I heard Akebono brand actually makes the OEM rotors, are they available at my local Autozone? How about Brembo? Please recommend me a good brand, as after I bought my Solara new last 2001 and after 104,000 miles, I think it is time to replace the rotors....

Thanks for your replies!

Brembo rotors are the best

I have that EXACT problem. I could almost call it a grind, but I wasn't sure what part of the brake system was causing it! Its kinda freakin me out, because I live in a very hilly part of Texas, So much that I've been downshifting to help slow down (automatic) which you shouldnt have to. So the problem is the rotors then? (sry to threadjack)

When it puslsates and vibratin' when you brake, that means the front rotors are worn and need to be turn aka shaved down til it's some what straight rotor again, or get new rotors. Brembo rotors are a good company that make rotors.
I'm goin' to be usin' DBA rotors for my next set.
I have my rear slotted rotors sittin' in my room already, just need to get the front ones now.
