02 sensor #1 question

02 sensor #1 question

Postby Sol-Toy » Tue Sep 11, 2007 10:48 am

I have a 2000 v6 solara and my 02 sensor #1 needs a replacement.

- whats the dif between oxygen sensor #1 vs oxygen sensor #2? Where is this 02 #1 located — manifold? down pipe? muffler? this ODB2 stuff has me confused

- Is this something that I should just attempt myself? I changed out my 02 sensor in my old ODB1 civic and it was a pain but $$worth it.

- If I take it in, what should I expect toyota to charge me?

thx in advance!

from my experience, not that bad to remove, a little rusted tight but i changed the #2 o2 myself...#1 i before the cat, on the y pip and #2 is after the cat...#1 does appear to be harder to change than #2 (havent had to change #1), #1 is towards the bottom in the back of the engine bay and #2 is on the mid pipe under the car between the muffler and cat...no sure of the charge though

Bank 1 sensor 1 = On the rear header, the header closes to the firewall

Bank 2 Sensor 1 = the sensor on the front header, the header that's closest to the Radiator.

Bank 1 Sensor 2 = o2 sensor after the Catallitic Converter.
