Dust in Trunk

Dust in Trunk

Postby Gargoyle » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:22 pm

I have a 2000 Coupe SE. Recently I traveled over a dusty dirt road for quite a distance, and when opening the trunk everything had a coating of dust on it. I found that the dust was entering from around the panel that covers the left tail light. I removed the panel and found three rectangular holes in the sheet metal, one on top of the other, the top one has flap that apparently keeps the dust out. The holes allow dust etc. to enter from behind the bumper.

WHAT ARE THESE HOLES FOR ??? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?

I noticed it too; probably some sort of ventilation compartment... Usually that was where I hid my vodka to get crunk on before I head into the clubs.

Should've been more specific... Left out the part where I was 20, livin' with my folks and would kill me if they found that and my smokes...

Besides, it's still a good place to put it (even though I'm 21 and living on my own); the cops can't apply the open container law to anybody in this case, the trunk is usually cooler than the rest of the car, it doesn't roll around and is contained within that area, you're at a place where a drink would be damned good but not served (e.g. a hookah lounge), and even a friggin' bottle of Kirkland's water is $3 in some venues, so the tradition of drinking before entering is still alive in my case  :sweet: :drinking:.
