Faster Automatic Tranny Shifting

Faster Automatic Tranny Shifting

I dont know how many of you have seen this before because its a little old, but I came across it last week and made the simple adjustment. It makes your auto tranny shift much faster, is easier on the gears, and costs $0. It takes two seconds to do and if you dont like it, it takes two seconds to switch back.

Although you wont shift any faster at WOT, your shifts around 2000 to 4000 rpms are a lot quicker which is nice because thats where most of your daily driving will take place. When I tightened the throttle kick down cable I also tightened the throttle cable which was quite loose. Now after $0 spent and only a few minutes invested, the car drives more responsively, quicker, and like its brand new.

I did this in my Ford Explorer a few years back, but differently using a zip tie to tighten up some slack on the throttle cable right next to the pedal. In my Explorer it made a difference. I might try it on the Lara. Good Find.

I did that for the throttle body side, might have to try it later for the other cable.

figured as much..

just tightened down the cable... this is the one with the thicker screw correct?? I used a 14mm wrench..

anybody verify that I tightened the right one?

Yea the 14mm is the right one. The actual throttle cable is 12mm i believe. I didn't tighten it all the way, I stopped maybe 2 full turns from completely tight. It said if you tightened it all the way it would interfere with WOT, but from playing around with the tension it did not seem like the butterfly valve was impeaded from opening even at the tightest setting. And no check engine.
