Engine Gel/Sludge
Hello
I am about to lose coverage on my 1999 v6 Se solara for the engine sludge problem.
So I am contemplating spending $180 for toyota to open up the crankcase and take a look in and check for sludge. I dont have any symptoms but the previous owner averaged oil changes every 4,600 miles if I thought about it when i bought the car I could have gotten a better price for sure. Anyway
over the 3 months I have the car
MPG 19 city/28 highway
No blue smoke or anything
Very smooth, no noises, no active leaks though there is some oil or coolant buildup under engine area.
I get a unexpected boost of power sometimes when I step on it around gear 2 or 3 ( i have an automatic)
So the reason for this post is to get your opinoin. I hope you can take a moment put yourself in my shoes as a Solara guy and reply whether you would or wouldnt put out the 180$ (and money is tight right now) Is it Worth It?
Thanks
Peter
