Anyone else have water issues?

Anyone else have water issues?

Postby Solara916 » Mon Jun 11, 2007 9:23 am

This past weekend, I took my 00 Solara through one of those gas station touchless car washes to get some dust off. I was sitting there, just chillin and then I felt some water drip onto my arm. I look up at my driver side window and there are water droplets coming down through the top of the window. Then I look at the passenger side window and the same thing is happening over there. I was hellllllllllllla trippin.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anyway to fix this?

Ayudame por favor!

doesnt happen to my car. but something like that is common. I believe ur window is not closign all the way up. There is a way to pop open to door and adjust it so that it rises higher. Because our doors are sealed by contact of door window to seal, to prevent leak, you would have to have more contact.

I havent adjust it myself, since i do not have the problem, but im sure someone can shed some light.

It's normal. Many car windows are not designed to handle water under pressure at the point where the window closes. Don't worry about it unless it drips in the rain.

it's "normal"...or rather, it's common.

it's the same sort of problem that my pop's has in his bmw z3, which has the same glass to weatherstripping seal, rather than door frame to body frame.

it's not as noticable on my ride, but it's def noticiable when going through a high pressure 'touchless' wash. whenever those sprays come by the driver or passenger side door, i can feel a light spray come through (usually in the winter, the summer in tx heats the weatherstripping up enough to mold it to the window).

if you have dripping coming through, you might want to look into replacing the weatherstripping on the door frame. although i haven't a clue how expensive it would come out to.

I have 2000 Coupe SE. When I first bought the car (new) and washed it the first time , I had the same problem on the drivers side window. After taking it to the dealer (warranty) three times, they finally stopped the leak - they said they had to send it to a body shop to re-adjust the door. No leaks since.

-Good Luck

water

Thanks for the feedback guys.

For some reason the Shell gas station touchless car washes shoot the water out stronger than the ones at Chevrons. Needless to say I won't be going back to the Shell ones.

Thanks again.
